We’re supporting a summer of music in Hertfordshire

09 June 2023

A summer of classical music is on the way for residents in East Herts with masterclass sessions and community events thanks to Hertfordshire Festival of Music. We’re proud to be supporting this musical celebration with a £2,000 donation from our charitable fund.

The festival runs from Friday 9 June to Saturday 17 June 2023 and it’s an annual summer of classical music for everyone, based in and around Hertford, Hitchin and Hatfield. World class artists will be performing this year including Tasmin Little OBE, Dame Emma Kirkby, Stephen Hough CBE, Steven Isserlis CBE, the Carducci Quartet, ZRI and the Orchestra of the Swan. This year clarinettist Emma Johnson MBE, a former BBC Young Musician of the Year, will be performing and providing a masterclass for local young musicians.

There will special projects during the festival including Music in Mind, which is specifically for people with dementia and an education project for primary school children. There will also be relaxed musical performances which will cater to those with autism or disabilities. As part of our partnership, we will be arranging special performances in some of our Older Persons schemes in the area so that residents can enjoy live classical music from the comfort of their scheme's lounge.

Our charitable fund provides support for residents experiencing financial difficulties as well as funding key local community initiatives like the Hertfordshire Festival of Music.

As an organisation with deep roots in and around Hertford and Ware, we aim to positively contribute to the communities we work in, so we’re proud to offer our support to this fantastic festival. We hope it will help deliver an exciting summer of events and concerts across Hertfordshire.

Events like the Hertfordshire Festival of Music are great because they bring residents together to connect over music and foster a sense of pride for where they live. We’re proud to be able to support events like this through our charitable fund, and we strongly support the festival’s mission to bring classical music to people from all walks of life.
